The importer is in responsible for all aspects of the products' transportation from door to door ex works.
This is where you, the importer, take responsibility for all expenses and risks associated with the goods' transportation. The only thing the goods' seller has to do is make sure the goods are ready for pickup at their place. When we ship goods for you as Ex work, we cover the following:
Export documents/clearance
Export pick up
Freight
Destination port surcharges
Customs clearance
Delivery

You run the risk of being surprised by costs that aren't explicitly stated in the contract. Since the seller's liability ends at the destination port,
if issues arise before the goods are processed, you may be responsible for extra costs.
Since the paperwork is complicated by using CIF or CRF import shipping terminology, you may be required to pay duty on the freight as well as cargo insurance. The costs of freight and cargo insurance are not subject to obligation. However, separating these from the goods invoice can be difficult, and they are not permitted to be calculated.
These must be displayed on separate invoices, along with proof of payment.
When you use Ex Works or FOB as import shipping terms, you have a lot of control over the freight and freight costs. You have a better chance of having competitive freight rates if you deal directly with your freight forwarder. This will take the seller out of the shipping process and allow you to get the details you need in a timely and accurate manner.
